We spent a large chunk of the day learning about the new iPads: what they will be used for, how to use them, etc. We then talked about Crane and the Red Badge of Courage, written in 1899. We discussed how he looks at photographs as evidence/research, (gander + "Battles and Leaders of the Civil War").
