I like the precision in finding an picking apart the scenes of black people overshadowed by the white southern gentry. the use of ovals and similar images with and without black people made their isolation in the film quite palpable. lastly your guys' comment about the slaves only taking center stage when the whites were removed like the napping scene was a great allegory for the racist views throughout the film.
first of all, i am very impressed with (or at least jealous of) the polished timing and aesthetic you've got going here. your choice of scenes and attention to the theme of race is also done with great focus and insight. from clip to clip i really had to search the image to find the slaves; a very effective illustration of their marginalization throughout the film.
